This privacy policy explains how personal data is processed when you visit and use ean.bz.

2. Website operation and server logs
When ean.bz is accessed, technically necessary connection data may be processed, including IP address, date/time, requested URL, HTTP status, transferred data volume, referrer, browser and operating-system information. This is used to provide the website securely and reliably, diagnose errors and prevent abuse. Logs are retained only as long as necessary for these purposes, technical administration or legal obligations.
3. EAN/GTIN search
The EAN or GTIN entered is sent to the server to identify the corresponding catalogue entry. Product searches are not used to create user profiles.
4. Barcode scanner and camera
With your permission, the browser can access the device camera. Camera frames are processed locally in the browser for barcode recognition and are not transmitted to or stored by ean.bz as images. After recognition, the detected EAN/GTIN is sent to ean.bz for the product search.
5. Cookies and settings
ean.bz uses no analytics or marketing cookies. Functional settings may be stored, in particular the selected language (eanbz_lang) and a manually selected market/country setting. They are used only for presentation and offer sorting and can be deleted in your browser.
6. GeoIP market sorting
For regional offer sorting, the IP address may be evaluated server-side against a locally operated GeoLite2 Country database. The derived country is used for ranking and does not by itself hide offers. The IP address is not sent to an external GeoIP service for this lookup.
7. Product images and external content
Product images may be loaded from servers operated by merchants, affiliate networks or their content-delivery networks. Your browser then connects to that external server, which may receive your IP address, technical browser data and the requested image URL.
8. Merchant links and Awin
Merchant offers may use affiliate links provided by Awin. ean.bz itself records only an aggregate click count. The click statistics do not store IP addresses, user agents, referrers, tracking cookies or fingerprints. You are then redirected to Awin and/or the merchant, whose own privacy policies apply.
9. No web tracking
ean.bz currently uses no web analytics, profiling or marketing-tracking service such as Google Analytics.
10. Recipients and international disclosure
Personal data may technically be accessible to hosting and infrastructure providers where necessary to operate the website. External image requests and merchant/affiliate clicks transmit data directly to the relevant external providers. They may be located outside Switzerland; their own privacy terms and applicable local data-protection rules also apply.
11. Security
ean.bz uses HTTPS/TLS and technical and organisational measures to protect systems and data.
12. Your rights
Under Swiss data-protection law, data subjects may in particular request information about processing and, where the legal requirements are met, request correction, deletion or restriction, or object to processing. Contact the controller above to exercise your rights.
13. Changes
This policy may be updated when functions, processing activities or legal requirements change. The version published on ean.bz applies.
Affiliate links and Amazon Associates
ean.bz uses affiliate links. If you click such a link, you are redirected to the respective provider. Only then may the provider process technical connection data such as your IP address, time, referrer information and browser data. For Amazon affiliate links, processing is carried out by Amazon under its applicable privacy terms. No Amazon scripts or Amazon widgets are currently embedded on these pages.
