Why is my barcode not recognised?
Common reasons why a camera or product search cannot successfully process a barcode.
Scanning problem
Blur, reflections, poor contrast or a partially hidden code are frequent causes. Clean the camera lens and try a different angle or distance.
Wrong code type
Not every visible code is a GTIN. Packaging can also contain serial numbers, internal logistics codes, QR codes and batch identifiers.
Number recognised, product missing
A GTIN can be valid even when no matching product record exists yet, particularly for new or specialised products.
Manual verification
Compare the detected number with the printed digits. A single misread digit creates a different identifier and usually prevents a correct match.
